A wing view from just before Christmas 2022, during peak holiday travel when a massive snow / ice storm hit southern Ontario and Quebec. Booked to fly from Toronto to Ottawa on December 23rd, I was very lucky to have made it to my destination, as WestJet had cancelled all of their flights and Air Canada cancelled 13/15 of their scheduled Toronto to Ottawa flights that day. I was lucky enough to be on one of the two Air Canada flights that managed to make the trip (albeit with a 2 hour delay).
The snowfall had calmed down at the time of our departure, but the wind was picking up and the temperatures dropping fast so we had a good long visit to the de-icing facility before our takeoff. We picked up off the runway very quickly and our climb up through the clouds was very bumpy. All-in-all, some very impressive flying!
Stay tuned for the arrival into Ottawa, where the blizzard conditions made for a very interesting arrival!
