After cj4A the petrol era ends due to the hike in petrol price people prefer diesel vehicles. hence mahindra introduced Cj500d with the international B275 tractor engine with modifications in 1975.
(Also cj3b and cj4A continued production with less demand in civilian market, but for officials
up to early 90s)

Production continued without any major changes till 1989.
In 1990 a higher capacity more powerfull engine introduced.cj500DE only change was the engine. *CJ500DE (1990-1991)*

But due to some technical issues this engine upgraded soon(water gasket issue) to direct injection system in 1991 named cj500DI.Only change was the engine.
