With Mechwarrior5:Mercs being released in a few weeks I feel the need to read over the lore to better understand the universe it is set in. Mechwarrior is set in a future of humanity that draws on our own history but it made a split a few years ago. Understanding where humanity went into the universe and the decisions that were made will help you better understand why combat is done with these stompy robots instead of space marines or complex AI.
I am super exited for the near release as I have played the original Mechwarrior, MW2:Mercs, MW4:Vengence, MW4:Black Knight and Mechwarrior Online. I'm somewhat sad I missed some of the clan invasion games as that lore is very interesting but I love the clan mechs and faction games in MW:O
If you are young or new to the Battletech and Mechwarrior Lore, I hope this helps out. I will put additional links that will help understanding as the top pinned comment in the video. This will have a map of the Mech universe and links to the source information for this video.
For the footage I have several round of play in a light clan mech called a Piranha:Cipher, it is a hero variant mech in MW:O that uses a large array of small lazers and machine guns to rip open larger mechs and moves FAST!
