There are various reasons why I've been going to the Festival of Speed over the years, but certainly seeing one-of-a-kind machines in a dynamic way is the main one. And Pikes Peak machines fall perfectly into this category.
Built and developed in 2023, the A110 Pikes Peak started its life as an A110 GT3 Evo race car. Lots of work has been done to increase engine power, with still a great reliability, improve the aerodynamic package and mechanics to keep it glued to the ground. It's powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine which is able to produce 500 hp at 7,500 rpm, linked to a 6-speed sequential gearbox. Total weight of the car is around 950 kg.
French driver Raphaël Astier, winner of the 2022 FIA R-GT Cup with the Alpine A110 R-GT rally car, was the man in charge of driving it during last year's edition of the legendary American hillclimb. Raphaël reunited with his old friend for the 2024 Festival of Speed!
