Prepare to have your mind blown while we talk about 2 stroke oil ratios! There is so much confusion about how much oil you should mix into your fuel for your dirt bike. The best advice that I can give you is to follow the oil manufacturer’s recommendation. Some oils are designed to run at 30:1, while others can be run at 100:1. Your dirt bike manual will probably suggest that you use a certain type of premix oil at a certain ratio. Keep in mind that most of the time, the dirt bike company has a partnership or sponsorship relationship with that oil maker, which is why they tell you to use that oil. If you own a KTM, the the manual will suggest that you use Motorex at 60:1. This is because Motorex is a sponsor of KTM. KTM has a vested interest in telling you to use Motorex, but you certainly don’t have to.
Contrary to popular belief, you can run whatever quality oil you want to use. That particular oil will have the rating on how much oil you need to use per gallon. That sums it up.
