As a memorial to dramatical change of JR express toward Izu from March 2020, I went to Izu in December 2019. Since I would like to know well about Odoriko Express, I read a novel “The Izu Dancer” written by KAWABATA Yasunari which became a model for Odoriko Express thoroughly in advance. I traveled almost the same rout as KAWABATA Yasunari. I stayed “Fukudaya” in Yugano hot spring during my trip. The room where KAWABATA Yasunari stayed at remains as before. “Fukudaya” itself is from early Meiji era and it is great cultural property.
The rout was as below.
Tokyo Station(Odoriko Express) → Syuzenji Station(Tokai Bus) → Joren Falls → The Museum of Modern Izu Literature → former Amagi Tunnel → Amagi Pass → Yugano hot spring/“Fukudaya” →Kawazu Station(Odoriko Express) → Izukyu-Shimoda Station(Super View Odoriko Express) → Tokyo Station
I used discount ticket named as Minami Izu Free Pass.
