America's Amazon tells the tale of the nation's most diverse river system. Hidden away in Alabama, it is home to more species of fish, crayfish, mussels, snails and other aquatic creatures than any other state. But the Mobile River System, which drains parts of four states, is under siege. While the system holds the crown for aquatic diversity, Alabama also leads the nation in the extinction of aquatic creatures. I made this film with Lynn Rabren, Eric Lowe and Mary Riser in 2013. My book dealing with the same subject matter, Saving America's Amazon, will be published in July of 2020 and can be preordered on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Saving-Americas-Amazon-Ben-Raines/dp/1588383385
