Third leg of my trip to Chicago, taken from 2/7/19 through 2/8/19. Our consist is made up of GE Genesis P42DC 195, towing behind it a former F40PH converted into a Cabbage car for the Downeaster (90224), which is on its way to Beech Grove shops for a fresh coat of paint, followed by the usual string of Superliners (Transition Sleeper + Sleeper + Diner + Sightseeing Lounge + Bag Coach + Coach).
We start out of D.C. chasing WMATA Red Line trains up towards Glenmont before turning westward and following the Potomac River up through Point of Rocks and Harpers Ferry. Shortly after, the sun sets, and at Pittsburgh, we move from coach into a full sleeper. We then pick up the next morning around Waterloo, IN and continue onward through the plains into Chicago.
