Harmonic analysis of a jazz standard. Understanding the harmony and being able to make a harmonic analysis of the songs we play is an important skill when playing jazz, so this video is an example of how I analyze songs and how I apply music theory
The video covers which scales are used on the chords, especially the secondary dominants, the key of the song and how the chord progression moves. Knowing how the form of the song is and the common chord progressions in there will make it much easier to use this tune to learn others quicker.
This video is meant as an opening for a discussion so please comment on the video if you have questions or suggestions.
Also if you have ideas for tunes I should try to analyze in another installment!
