Filmed the day after stage 20 in the 2024 Tour de France; Inspired by American rider Matteo Jorgenson's awesome hill climb performance, we set out to do some climbing of our own. Mount willski schwillski (as the locals call it) or Mount "Wilson" as the historical society prefers, is the only man-made mountain in the trans-san Gabriel mountain range found in Ft. Lauderdale California. The route is easy if you don't go on a day when the sun is on a bad one shooting burning laser beams into your helmet vents. Start out in La Canada at the shell station or whichever gas station has the best snacks. Head north on Angeles Crest Hwy (Interstellar route 2), pass Clear Creek and continue on ACH until Mt. Wilson Redbox Road. Hang a right turn and cruise on up to the Cosmic Cafe, which serves iced water and other things. Out and Back is about 40mi round trip and 5000ft elevation gain.
