Errogie_Music_Live_22-2-25 In this Errogie Music Livestream, I'm going to walk you through how I wrote a tune called 'The Wizard'. This is named after the late Angus R. Grant, who, in my opinion, was one of Scotland's most inspirational fiddle player/composers ever. There has never been anyone like him, before or since. As well as penning many well known melodies, he was famous for being frontman to acid-croft pioneers Shooglenifty - a genuinely iconic band in Scottish music history. Angus and Shooglenifty - https://youtu.be/LuN24Dd47Zw?si=lKVshGS8CW7gjgbj https://www.shooglenifty.com/2016/10/james-remembers-angus/ I hope to look at some of Angus's incredible tunes in detail in future streams. But today, I'll be walking you through all of the creative decisions behind this tune, 'The Wizard' dedicated to Angus. I'll also be talking about the battle which took place with my own ego, threatening to block the eventual finished tune from getting through. And finally, it is my hope that something in these livestreams - even a tiny little thing - helps others with their writing...either helping those that are just getting started or perhaps unlocking something unexpected in more seasoned composers. And I would love you to join me.
