This video is in Russian language.

Anna Bronovitskaya’s upcoming lecture features one of the most brilliant creators of the twentieth century, whose groundbreaking ideas and scale of work has inspired generations of architects across the world.

Le Corbusier (byname of Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, on October 6, 1887. A multitalented personality, he achieved success as an architect, urban planner, designer, artist and writer, contributing significantly to European architecture, as well as that of India, USSR, Japan, Brazil and other countries.

The architectural aesthetics of Le Corbusier, based on the concepts of pure industrial beauty, reinforced concrete floors, and open plan, went through a number of transformations, always aiming at social change and lifestyle shift, reflected in small-scale architectural designs as much as enormous, sometimes utopian urban projects.

Le Corbusier’s practice is too wide and diverse to recount in a single talk. Focusing on lesser known and unrealized projects and theories, rather than paradigmatic masterpieces, the lecture will feature people and historical events, as well as books and trips that impacted Le Corbusier’s evolution of style. Anna Bronovitskaya will also touch upon his political affairs and aspirations, associated with the USSR, the Vichy government, and the UN.
