Annamalai Swami (1906 - 1995) was a master of Advaita Vedanta and a direct disciple of Sri Ramana Maharshi. In 1938, after ten years of work and devotion, Sri Ramana asked Annamalai Swami to leave the Ashram and devote himself exclusively to solitary meditation on Atma Vichara. He then moved to a house nearby where he practiced self-enquiry for decades and finally, through devoted service to Bhagavan and rigorous practice of sādhana, attained Self-Realization. His teachings in simple language became valuable advice to seekers, for his direct experience gave him practical knowledge on how to achieve success in Self-Realization through self-enquiry.
