As a common writing and drawing tool, pencils have many related knowledge points. Here are some of the main knowledge points:
01. Pencil hardness classification
H stands for Hard. The larger the number, the higher the hardness and the lighter the color. B stands for Black. The larger the number, the softer the color and the darker the color.
HB is between B and B, with moderate hardness.
02. Pencil core composition
Mainly made of a mixture of graphite and clay, graphite provides black, and clay controls hardness.
03. Uses of pencils
Pencils of different hardness are suitable for different purposes, for example: H pencils are suitable for fine lines and clear writing; HB pencils are suitable for general writing and sketching; B pencils are suitable for drawing, especially shading and filling.
04. Pencil shape
Ordinary pencils are usually hexagonal to facilitate holding and prevent rolling. Colored pencils are mostly round to adapt to different pen holding postures and coloring needs.
05. Pencil size
Pencil length, diameter and core diameter have different specifications, and the common pencil length is about 175-180mm.
06. Pencil maintenance
Pencils should be stored in a dry place to avoid moisture that may cause deformation of the core rod or damage to the pencil lead. Trim the pencil tip regularly to maintain writing and drawing effects.
