This is a very common antique around the world, but this one probably have 100+ years old. I didn't find any information about the brand Tamoio. This piece was founded in a backyard and the support base was inside of it. So to begin the restoration i don't disassemble cause it was half disassembled. To not broke any part of the antique i put it in a bath with vinegar for 2 days, a lot of rust was leaved the surface and and it makes some cake of rust and bubbles hehe. Now with hot water i washed all parts and let it to dry. Some rust still resists from the vinegar bath but was enough to disassemble some part. I was not happy that the screw was stuck, so i make electrolysis to remove it. I leave in electrolysis for 12 hours, and for my happyness the screw leaved. Now i can restore all parts one by one like i like to do. With a file i remove some huge casting marks and make some lost details reappers. I do not wanted to make a super smooth finish, so some marks of rust and cast still are in the surface. After this process, i make a bath with hot water and hydrochloric acid to remove the deep rust. With all rust gone, i started to sand the bottom of the iron, 80G to 400G. There was a wood handle missing, so i make a new in a woodlathe. I make some burned details on handle and sanded it with 120G to 400G, hope you don't mind. Now with a hand drill, i make the handle fits in the rigth place. To protect all the surface of the iron i applied a graphite wax, the result looks pretty. Now all parts are ready to assemble. The assemble was very easy, and i make a little test on the iron. This thing become super hot so easy.
