Log Entry #076
Planet: Aon Tertius | Star System: Lyra Ascendant | Galactic Sector: 37-B Delta
I saw it long before I reached the valley. Even from the distant ridge, the construct dominated the sky—a vast, circular monolith suspended above the earth, a gaping eye of cold light staring into infinity. Its surface bristled with spiked protrusions, like the fossilized remnants of some ancient machine-god, long since abandoned but still watching, still waiting.
I hesitated before descending. Every instinct screamed at me to turn back, but I had come too far. The air was thick, pressing against my suit in ways the scanners couldn’t explain. Gravity fluctuated slightly, a subtle ebb and flow that made each step uncertain. I felt as if I were being pulled forward, guided by something unseen.
The landscape stretched around me, barren yet beautiful. Towering rock formations loomed on either side, casting jagged shadows in the dim, pale light. The grass beneath my feet was brittle, ancient, undisturbed for centuries. Yet, despite the silence, I could feel something—an undercurrent of sound, a low, pulsing hum vibrating in the marrow of my bones.
As I approached the structure, my instruments failed, one by one. The atmosphere was breathable, but the readings were incoherent—energy spikes, erratic radiation bursts, gravitational distortions that defied every known law of physics. The monolith wasn’t just present in this place; it was the place. Its influence stretched beyond the physical, seeping into the very fabric of time.
I stopped a few meters from the point where the earth met its shadow. The glowing eye at its center flickered, just once, and I knew.
This was not a relic.
It was awake.
And it had seen me.
End log.
