राज्यसभा सांसद रामजी लाल सुमन के एक बयान ने बड़ा विवाद खड़ा कर दिया। राणा सांगा को लेकर की गई उनकी टिप्पणी पर करणी सेना के कार्यकर्ताओं ने आक्रोश जताते हुए उनके आगरा स्थित घर पर हमला कर दिया। इस हिंसक घटना में कई पुलिसकर्मी घायल हो गए। हालात को नियंत्रित करने के लिए पुलिस को लाठीचार्ज करना पड़ा और कई लोगों को हिरासत में लिया गया। इस घटना के बाद राजनीति भी गरमा गई। समाजवादी पार्टी जहां इस हमले को जातिगत रंग देने की कोशिश कर रही है, वहीं भारतीय जनता पार्टी इसे देश के गौरव से जोड़ रही है। समाजवादी पार्टी के प्रमुख अखिलेश यादव और सांसद डिंपल यादव ने सरकार पर तीखा हमला बोला। वहीं, मुलायम सिंह यादव की छोटी बहू अपर्णा यादव ने भी इस मुद्दे पर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया दी और रामजी लाल सुमन से माफी मांगने की मांग की।
