Imagine a house that tells a story. A story that begins in Vietnam, continues in New Orleans, unfolds in California, and for the past 8 years has been written in Yucatan. Its owner, in addition to being an artist, designer, and architect, has managed to combine the Californian style, art, feng shui, and traditional Yucatecan architecture to create a home full of magic, personality, and unique details.
The house welcomes us with a geometric facade where materials play with each other: white and pink paint, lattices, stone, and steel. A sloping garage takes advantage of every space, while a window to the sky breaks up the structure and tells us that something special awaits us.
As we go deeper, we find a small pond that creates a natural cushion between the facade and the house. Here the architecture shines: a perfect balance between privacy, light, and nature. And although it seems that the bathroom connects with the water, don't worry, there is a door there.
We arrive at the heart of the house: the main room, a monumental space 6.5 meters high. Here everything makes sense. Light enters from a giant window and, combined with the green outside, creates a spectacular visual finish. The style is a mix between industrial and Zen. There is steel and concrete, but also bamboo and ceramic, achieving a perfect balance between strength and calm. The bamboo floor stands out, while personal details add creativity and warmth.
Next to the living room is the dining room, with an oval marble table that becomes the protagonist. The lamp is a work of art in itself, while the side windows connect with the internal patio and the pool, inviting us to discover more.
The kitchen is a jewel in itself. The first thing that impresses is its size and the enormous 3x3 meter window, which floods the space with natural light. The finishes are impeccable.
We go out to the patio and find a space full of life: handmade furniture, details in black river stone and a perfect connection between interior and exterior. Here we also find the door to the master bedroom and a small bridge that leads to the laundry room.
The master bedroom takes us back to the bamboo floor and surprises with its unevenness and a screen wall that hides the closet and functions as a TV stand. The bathroom is another level: pasta floor, hand-carved sinks, floating oval mirrors and a huge shower with niches and a bench, which also has a direct exit to the pool. Here, you can sit under the rain with a coffee and enjoy a moment of peace.
Going downstairs we find an unusual surprise in Yucatan: a basement converted into a movie theater. A cozy space that breaks the norm and makes the most of every meter of the house.
We continue to the second floor, where we find two very flexible bedrooms. The first has a wooden window that opens and turns the space into a loft or study, but when closed, it becomes completely private. The bathroom is a spectacle: pigmented concrete sinks and a pasta mosaic designed by the architect.
The third bedroom, smaller, maintains the aesthetic: a window protected by latticework, a functional closet and a bathroom with double entrance that, again, surprises with a mosaic designed especially for this place.
In the house there is also an office that can be transformed into another bedroom. It has plumbing because, in addition to being an architect, its owner is an artist and uses this space to paint. Along with this, the gym combines functionality and art in an environment full of light and movement, with its own full bathroom.
Finally, we reach the roof top. Here we find another study, a hammock to rest and the famous window to the sky that now opens towards the park, giving us a spectacular view to close this tour.
