16 days on the road in August 2020. Drove 8430 kilometres of paved and gravel road. Drove on mud and loose gravel and potholes. Lived in tents in the middle of nowhere, slept in shady motels in villages that are still 50 years behind. Drove under bright sunshine, trough rain, thunderstorms. Endured temperatures close to zero to desert heat. Had to suppress the urge to stop whenever to take photos, many times! Swarmed by families of mosquitoes. Missed home, wherever it may be!
Yet the journey was well worth! Made the road our home. Overcame the fear of uncertainty and unknown. Drove through three Canadian British Columbia, Yukon and Alberta. Went all the way to Hyder, Alaska border. Drove on the Dempster Highway that challenged my many years of driving experience! Touched the arctic circle. Saw the most pristine nature. Understood how delicate she can be! Fell in love with mountains, again and again! Saw the cycle of weather in front of my eyes. Was awestruck by huge waterfalls on the way! Stood by great lakes and glaciers. Heard nothing but complete silence! Realized yet again what we are part of. Felt deep gratitude for that! Looked at the trail of the Milkyway Galaxy with nothing but my own eyes! Watched epic sunsets! Saw some majestic animals and they saw us too! Met some amazing folks and some enthusiastic travelers. Saw people holding on to their decaying cultures and traditions. Saw people digging up rocks from the ground that are considered expensive.
Got one hell of a story to tell for years to come 🤩. This is just an attempt to express only a tiny fraction of the story... enjoy!
