Compiling Ardour on Linux: https://youtu.be/XBTQKm74M7w
Ardour supports a wide variety of effects, multitrack recording, and MIDI instruments. Audio in Ardour is handled through Jack, allowing many different signal routing options and multitrack recording.
In this video, we cover the basics of how to setup a new Ardour project. We start by adding new tracks and renaming them to keep the project organized. Next, we setup our inputs and make recordings on these tracks. We configured an Ardour project as if we were recording a drum kit with 4 microphones; there was a stereo track for the overheads and 2 mono tracks for the kick and snare. We used the trim and split tool in Ardour to cut out some of the noise at the beginning and end of each of the tracks.
We used a sample multitrack project to go over some the tools in Ardour used for mixing. We used compression and equalization to balance out our kick drum in the mix. A bus track was used as an effects send for reverb on the vocal tracks, and we covered the signal routing and how to set it up in Ardour. Finally, we used Ardour to export the project as a WAVE file.
