Let's have an honest discussion about the future of not only the Big 4 sewing pattern brands, but the sewing + crafts industry on a wider level. With the recent demise of JOANN fabrics stores and Simplicity Creative Group's parent company being sold to Hilco Capital, we are likely going to see a major shakeup to sewing patterns. I personally do not see the deeply discounted $1.99 paper sewing pattern sales being sustainable long term for Simplicity. The rise and popularity of indie sewing pattern designers, widespread acceptance of digital PDF patterns, new technology such as the Ditto sewing pattern projector, not to mention AI - indicates the future of sewing is probably going to look much different than we could ever imagine.
