The late Iron Age necropolis excavated in September 2023 is the first one dating to the late Iron Age to be investigated in the province of Mantova using modern scientific methods. The discovery of the burial core, consisting of thirteen tombs, is part of a project initiated in 2022 that involved several sites in the territory of the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape for the provinces of Cremona, Mantova, and Lodi being subjected to geophysical investigations (magnetometry and ground-penetrating radar) led by the expert archaeologist in field archaeology, Guglielmo Strapazzon, thanks to the collaboration with the Central Institute for Archaeology and special funds allocated by the Directorate-General for Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape
