Are you someone who’s interest has been piqued by all the talk of #3DS #emulation but don’t want the awkwardness of storing ROMs? Well, Artic Base has you covered. This new tool allows anyone to broadcast files from a modded 3DS to other hardware with very little effort. There’re just a few caveats you’ll need to grapple with along the way.

Before using Artic Base (and as a general good practice) make sure to backup your game files and save data in case something wonky happens during streaming. I haven’t personally experienced any issues during the many hours I’ve spent playing, but you never know (especially if your connection cuts unexpectedly).
To create backups, you’ll need GodMode9 (game files and full system backups) and Checkpoint (save file management); links to both below. GodMode9 should be familiar to anyone running custom firmware and allows for full access to the 3DS’ file systems to move, copy, and edit files on the device. Meanwhile, Checkpoint is a homebrew application that allows for quick save file backup and restoration. Used together, you should be able to save encrypted copies of your games (.cia files) to your SD card alongside save files for all of your games with very little effort.
If a game file gets corrupted, you can just reinstall the .cia file for that game using an app like FBI. The game’s save file can then be restored using either Checkpoint or your file management system to copy your backed up file to the right location.
