Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, will offer a presentation on Artificial Intelligence and Public Policy. Faculty members, staff and students are cordially invited.
As advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) gain pace at an unprecedented rate, policymakers are called to respond. We have struggled to keep up and this lag is particularly palpable in the realm of public policy. Professor Marwala will explore the challenges confronting policymakers as AI becomes more entrenched and posit solutions that tackle these challenges, highlighting interventions that policymakers should prioritise. This will be done through the lens of sustainable development, with the goal of ensuring that policy not only responds to our current context but is also inclusive and accessible.
