I aimed to capture the pristine and awe-inspiring feel of a frozen untouched landscape just before sunrise. Enjoy the beauty from a warm spot indoors, ideally with headphones to hear the brushstrokes on canvas.
I found myself chasing this piece down for quite a while, but in the end perseverance paid off. Creating subtle color gradations and blends with acrylic paint can be tricky due to how fast it dries, but adding too much water can also make a mess of it. It took me a while to get the right balance and smooth everything out the way I wanted it. After that I was able to dig into the trees and reflections that I love to paint. I'm not sure if they're my favorite part, but I certainly can get lost in them (in a good way).
