Today, with a heavy heart, we honor the remarkable life and legacy of Alex Cooke, Master Tailor and beloved member of the Henry Poole family, who passed away a year ago this past November 11, 2023, after a long battle with ALS. I had the honor of working with Alex as part of our "Suit to Shoot" series, where he cut for me a remarkable five-piece bespoke suiting shoot. This special ASMR video revisits Alex’s meticulous work in crafting this remarkable garment, my first "pure bespoke" suit from Savile Row, capturing the artistry and dedication he brought to his craft.
Alex Cooke joined Henry Poole as an apprentice in 1998 and quickly rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming one of the firm's Directors in 2008. Over his career, Alex made a profound impact not only on Henry Poole but also on bespoke tailoring globally. Known for his humility, skill, and passion, he worked tirelessly to perfect each garment, guided by the belief that "you’re only as good as your last garment." His dedication, talent, and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Alex’s contributions extended far beyond Savile Row; his work brought Henry Poole to clients worldwide, from Japan to the US. He built enduring relationships across the industry, collaborating with renowned brands like Adidas, Range Rover, and Canada Goose, and was recently awarded the prestigious City and Guilds Masters Certificate for his contributions to bespoke tailoring.
In this quiet tribute, we invite you to appreciate the details of Alex’s craft—a fitting homage to a master tailor whose legacy will live on at Henry Poole and beyond. May his memory continue to inspire all who walk through Henry Poole’s doors and every craftsman aspiring to carry on his legacy.
