Best-selling author of “Born to Run,” Christopher McDougall discusses the trajectory of his career and what lead him to write his 2019 book “Running with Sherman” about training a rescue donkey to run in the International Leadville Pack Burro Race and, in the process, discovering the life-changing power of the human-animal connection.
Christopher McDougall covered wars in Rwanda and Angola as a foreign correspondent for the Associated Press before writing his best-selling book “Born to Run.” His fascination with the limits of human potential led him to his next book, “Natural Born Heroes,” and the Outside magazine web series, “Art of the Hero.” Christopher went on to write a weekly column about animal-human partnerships for The New York Times which turned into his current book, “Running with Sherman.” He lives with his wife, two daughters and a farmyard menagerie in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
