[Temporary trains that apply emergency brakes] On the main line where regular passenger trains run, we sew between general trains that are in normal operation and operate special trains to perform various types of emergency brakes, which is quite aggressive. It was the Wakayama Dentetsu Kishigawa Line that carried out a super-unique project with this attitude. At the Wakayama Electric Railway's annual event "Kishigawa Line Festival" held in the fall of 2018, the following three emergency brake operation demonstration experiences were held.
(1) Demonstration of overlooking the departure signal installed at Okazaki-mae Station (train exchange station) and starting at a red light, and the ATS (Automatic Train Stop) actually operates and makes an emergency stop.
(2) Demonstration in which the driver actually applies emergency braking from 60 km / h and experiences that the train does not stop suddenly, just as the car does not stop suddenly. (There is also an explanation of the stopping distance in the video)
③ Demonstration that the deadman's switch actually operates automatically and the train stops in an emergency when the driver collapses due to poor physical condition on the running train. (* Aside from the driver who is in poor physical condition, another driver gets into the crew room of the leading vehicle and carries out the front monitoring mission and the emergency brake for the conductor immediately.)
It was not an event at the garage or the service line in the depot, but an experience-based event with a very large-scale behavior, in which a special train was actually run on the main line that was open. At the beginning of this video, Mitsunobu Kojima, president of Wakayama Electric Railway (Ryobi Group Chairman), is holding the calico cat "Yontama", the stationmaster of Idakiso (acting stationmaster of Takashi). ..
Wakayama Electric Railway, which is world-famous for its calico cat "Tama Station Chief," has launched various projects one after another, and is focusing on promoting the use of residents along the railway line, thanking them, and attracting tourists. You can transfer to Wakayama Electric Railway smoothly at JR Wakayama Station. When visiting by car, it is convenient to use the Park & Ride Parking Lot (200 yen a day) run by Wakayama Electric Railway at Idakiso Station. In particular, there are no parking lots at each station along the line, including Kishi Station, the final stop where the station building is the "Tama Museum," so please use Park & Ride to visit while being shaken by the Wakayama Electric Railway train.
◆ Wakayama Electric Railway "Tama Train Museum" supporters are currently being recruited.
