In week 2 of the Back To Basics Training Challenge we work on the scattered bumper drill.
This drill provides retriever trainers opportunities to work on control issues like stopping crisply on a whistle and auto casting. You can also work on handling problems your dog may have with angle back, over and angle in casting. Finally you'll find plenty of opportunities to work on lining, pivoting and preparing for a blind retrieve.
Whether you're a duck hunter, you run field trials or hunt tests, you'll find this drill is one you can keep coming back to to work on many issues you and your retriever might have.
If you have any questions about the drill, please leave them in the comments section. I'll be happy to answer them.
