Located in the Persian Gulf, off the coast of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, Bahrain (“the two seas” in Arabic) is the smallest and most surprising country in the Middle East. On one side, ultra-modern and spectacular architecture, on the other, multi-millennial archaeological sites in the open air. The Kingdom of Bahrain is also distinguished by its taste for tolerance and its sense of celebration. The women live there freely, without constraint. Islam is the dominant religion, but other religions, Jewish and Christian, are practiced openly.
