We join the signalman at Basford Hall Junction in Crewe on one shift before the cabin finally closed to see how this busy and historic Signalbox controlled the divergence of freight trains around the back of Crewe and passenger trains towards the station.
Our thanks to the signallers and the operations staff of the London North Western (north) area of the National Network for letting us capture a busy little mornings scene, all gone now as the control transferred to the Manchester Rail Operating Centre over Christmas 2024 as part of the areas resignalling works.
