➡️ The moment you hear a song by @officialprimus start playing, you'll know it's them within a few seconds: The signature, throaty slap bass tone from Les Claypool (and his insanely unique vocals), the unsettling dissonant guitar leads from guitarist Larry LaLonde, and the funky grooves from drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander (and amazingly performed by Jay Lane in this performance). You can quickly tell what a cult following Primus have from the spot-on crowd participation from this audience. In this video, I react to and analyze a live performance by Primus - "Tommy The Cat" at Bonnaroo 2011. I cover tips on achieving his slap bass technique (and playing those fast percussive grooves), his bass tone, using a strumming flamenco-type technique for bass fills, how he puts it all together, and simply how their songwriting style makes Primus such a cool band. PRIMUS SUCKS!
