Hey all,
Today we are chatting about how I baste down my quilt top to start quilting. In the first video we loaded the quilt the burrito method and now we get to get the top ready to be stitched. I love to use a ruler to help me get all the edges stitched down. With the BERNINA Q Series Machines, we have it good. Not only is it so easy to switch between the feet from free motion to a ruler foot, or in this case from a ruler foot to the foot with a Cup Clip, but we can also use our amazing BSR3 to pop the machine right into a basting mode. This mode gives us a few options with our stitch length and with those BSRs regulating our stitches, they are perfect every time.
After I get the top basted down, that's when I put on my side clamps. In this case, I am using my clamps made with SewTites Magnum Magnets (when shopping at sewtites.com you can use my affiliate code ASF10 to save 15% off your purchase). Here's a link to how I made the side clamps and a link to the blog instructions too.

I also talked about the Longarm Seam Setter from Classi Creations. This gadget attaches to any quilt frame and will help you keep those quilts perfectly straight every time. They offer an Adam Sew Fun discount on their product with code ASF10 but during the month of April 2025, they have bumped that code up to 20% off, so make sure to check them out at the following link: https://classicreations.com/longarm-seam-setter/?searchid=18625
I hope you are enjoying this series. I love to share the way I do things but as always, just because I do it this way doesn't mean it's the only way. It just happens to be the way that works best for me.
Happy Stitching and thanks for watching,
Adam Rateliff
