Batman and Robin completely killed the franchise and its often labelled as one of the worst comic book movies of all time. When the movie was released it got destroyed by both fans and critics and there was a point where I genuinely thought it might be the last Batman film ever.
It was that bad.
Joel Schumacher apologised to fans on the Making of and has said hes sorry for those he disappointed.
Thankfully though we can look back and laugh as we know we’re gonna be getting Batman Forever. Batman 100 years.
Kevin Feige is even quoted as calling it the most important comic book movie ever made because its failure forced Hollywood to rethink how they made these movies.
These days the film is probably my biggest guilty pleasure and I think that its probably the funniest comic book movie ever made. Whether thats intentional or not…we’ll get into it but 2 hours of ice puns deserves some applause.

Now though Batman Forever lightened up the tone from the Burton vision, Batman and Robin took things to the next step. Turning up the campiness to 11 its more like a 90s version of Batman 66.
This was seen in everything across the board from the tone, the costume and even the writing.
This is the first Batman film where none of the villains die and it’s pun after pun after pun after pun.
