Beautiful and Very Easy Square Neck Ruffled Baby Frock Cutting and Stitching | DIY Easy Baby Frock
Hey everyone! Welcome back to my channel! Today, I’m going to show you how to make this beautiful and very easy square neck ruffled baby frock. It’s perfect for beginners, so if you’re ready to create this adorable piece for your little one, keep watching till the end!
Step 1: Materials Needed
• Cotton fabric (about 1 meter)
• Matching thread
• Measuring tape
• Scissors
• Pins
• Elastic (for waistline)
• Sewing machine
Step 2: Measurements & Cutting
• Start by measuring your baby’s chest, waist, and desired frock length.
• Fold your fabric and mark the frock length. Add 1 inch for hemming.
• Cut out a rectangular bodice piece based on your baby’s chest measurement + seam allowance.
• For the skirt, cut a wider rectangular piece (double the chest measurement) to create the gathered effect.
Step 3: Bodice Cutting
• Fold the bodice piece in half and mark the square neckline. Cut out the neckline.
• Measure and cut the armholes for the puff sleeves.
Step 4: Ruffles
• For the ruffles along the neckline and bodice, cut long strips (about 1.5 to 2 inches wide). The length should be twice the length of the neckline to create the ruffled effect.
• To create the ruffles, gather the fabric by sewing a loose stitch along one side and pulling the thread.
Step 5: Sleeves
• Cut puff sleeves by taking a wide rectangle and gathering the top edge to fit the armhole.
• Sew the edges to close the sleeve.
Step 6: Stitching the Bodice
• Attach the ruffles to the front bodice by sewing them along the neckline.
• Sew the shoulder seams of the bodice.
• Attach the puff sleeves to the armholes and stitch the side seams of the bodice.
Step 7: Attaching the Skirt
• Gather the top edge of the skirt by sewing a loose stitch and pulling it to match the bodice width.
• Attach the skirt to the bodice by stitching the gathered skirt to the bottom of the bodice.
Step 8: Finishing Touches
• Sew an elastic band around the waistline for a snug fit.
• Hem the skirt and sleeves to finish the edges.
• Add decorative buttons to the bodice for a cute look.
Step 9: Final Look
• And that’s it! Your beautiful and easy square neck ruffled baby frock is ready. Perfect for any occasion and comfortable for your little one to wear.
