In my opinion box turning is the pinnacle of the turning craft. You can make boxes with any kind of grain orientation from a huge variety of materials. You can also: segment, nest, layer, pierce, burn, inlay, carve, ..... it pulls in so much from all the other areas of turning. Even the best in the industry still have avenues to learn more in the world of box making. Yet you can successfully make a box as a beginner too.
