Continuing the instructions on meditation for beginners - here I discuss the use of a coarse outer objects Following the stages of setting your posture, then quieting the mind by following the breath the next step is to focus the mind on an object, to 1) settle the mind in stillness and 2) to develop mental acuity, or strength of mind.T here are many different types of object and here we start with external objects associated with the natural elements of earth, water, fire wind and space. The first of these is the earth element and in this example I use a black stone.It is important to 1st work with what is easier and as you progress in your skill to then move onto more subtle and difficult objects#meditation #buddhism #awakening #awareness
