It's also very important for general health and performance. All athletes should aim to do some strength training to improve their performance. But strength doesn't work in a vacuum. I'm always arguing on this channel that you need to develop your endurance and your mobility and all that good stuff. I say it's important so that you can adapt to any situation. So that there are no gaps in your health. However, it actually goes beyond that; because this still supposes you are using each aspect of fitness in an isolated manner. It suggests that you might need to run fast, then run far, then be strong, then be mobile. The truth is that all these things exist on a spectrum. And all of them must occur at once. There is no such thing as expressing strength without expressing *some* mobility, *some* endurance, and *some* stability. And the reverse is also true. At any one time, different muscles in the body are using different energy systems and moving seamlessly between them. So, strength alone is not enough. Because strength cannot exist by itself. And training your other capacities will, therefore, necessarily uplift your strength.
