In December 2024 I made the long car journey up to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.
The objective for this trip was to climb the UK’s tallest mountain - Ben Nevis. Eager to further develop my winter mountaineering skills, I was draw to the towering cliffs and deep crags of the well renowned North Face.
To keep myself safe in these challenging winter conditions, I booked a local guide from a company called Abacus Mountain guides.
As part of my training for future mountain expeditions in 2025 - I requested that we attempted the Ledge Route, which is an excellent Grade 1/2 rocky scramble through magnificent scenery, rising 400m over it’s 800m length.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day out with Mike Mason from start to finish. He was a pleasure to climb with and provided a fountain of practical knowledge I could learn from.
