In today's podcast we talk about our most asked question:
What is the best beginner bike & how do I choose between the Beta Xtrainer and CRF250F.
Both are similar but different in a LOT of ways. Alexis has had many dirt bikes over the years on her quest to find the perfect fit and being a shorter girl she has a hard time since all of the full size bikes are way too tall. Thankfully there are a few solid options for the vertically challenged and both of these are a great fit.
The Beta is a more technical bike and out of the box comes with much better suspension, and a more capable engine that may be geared towards a rider with a bit more experience. We think if you plan on riding some more advanced trails, especially single track, that the Xtrainer is the better choice and can open up more possibilities for those trying to push their limits.
The Honda is an entry level, beginner friendly bike that anyone can hop on and ride with ease. If you are a brand new rider and have zero experience with manual transmissions, or just lack motor skills in general, this is the best bike to learn on and you will be able to get the hang of the clutch relatively quickly as it is very forgiving.
We touch briefly on the 4 stroke vs 2 stroke aspect but I encourage you to do a bit more research before you make a decision, the engines have very different characteristics but can be ridden in the same environments especially if you do a few key upgrades to the 250F as we mentioned.
I hope this answered some of your questions, and let us know what you would like to see / hear next!
