Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel and originally created for Ludum Dare 47 by ninjamuffin99, Kawai Sprite, PhantomArcade and evilsk8r. Currently developed by The Funkin' Crew, the game can be played on Newgrounds or downloaded for free on itch.io.
The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam on October 5, 2020. An expanded demo was released on November 1, 2020, with updates continually released in the following months. A full version of the game backed by Kickstarter, titled Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game, is in development.
The game is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes, and new content, with the full version of the game currently in development after being successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign. The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father, Daddy Dearest, and her popstar mother, Mommy Mearest, don't approve of him. Markus takes center stage as one of the main opponents of Disk 1 of this mod. He is an experiment designed to be like the happy-go-lucky and whimsical mascot of Disney, Mickey Mouse. He was the most successful experiment out of all of them, carrying the mannerisms of the real Mickey Mouse. But while he is the most successful experiment out of all of them, he still has problems and is very aggressive.
Marko is the angrier, more serious predecessor of Markus. He is the opponent in Maniacal, alongside his wife, Martha. Marko was introduced to her after a scarring incident in Treasure Island and has been with him ever since. She is one of the oppoents of Maniacal, where she sings alongside her husband, Marko.
