The question is can devotion (bhakti) be learned or do you have devotion or not or what is it that you can do to increase your devotion. A theist is not a true theist if he has not passed through the test of atheism. One who has never doubted his faith would never know how strong his faith is. One who never questioned God would not know how strong the relationship he has with God. There is nothing in this world that you cannot learn. You can learn anything. You can learn bhakti (devotion) also. You can also increase the bhava, the sentiment of devotion in you. But, there are many things that cannot be taught. In reality, no one can teach you bhakti. But that does not mean that you cannot learn how to be devoted.
Bhakti is a personal relationship of a person with his belief. For people, who had love at first sight just because they went to a certain temple and saw an idol and read about their life history and fell in love, that love for sure will go away soon. This is because that person did not get to his bhava of devotion by testing his faith. It was more of an emotional response they gave to something that sprouted in their consciousness.
