After spending a couple of days bicycling in Colorado Springs due to snow and rain in the mountains we ventured up to the mountains on a beautiful sunny day. Our first plan was to drive from Colorado Springs, after visiting the Garden of the Gods (highly recommended!), to Breckenridge and ride the bike trail to Frisco and back. Julie mentioned Leadville from a book she had read and I did some searching and found information on the Mineral Belt Trail and it looked amazing so we changed our plans. Sometimes you get lucky and we did, the peak fall colors were happening in Leadville and we were treated to a sensory overload of beauty. What an amazing trail! Add it to your list of trails to ride, especially in the fall. The town of Leadville is a neat place and we enjoyed a late lunch at Buchi Cafe Cubano, which is highly recommended.
