The hot hatch market was probably the most competitive around 2013. You had the Ford Focus ST make its debut in the United States, the dominant Volkswagen Golf GTI, and the wild MazdaSpeed 3. The Mazdaspeed 3 was always known as the less sophisticated but wild experience compared to the others. It made more power at the time and was notorious for one thing: torque steer.
