Video from bikepacking the Mae hong son loop in Northern thailand sometimes called 1864 curves due to the winding nature of the route! Starting in Chiang mai, we headed anti-clockwise around the loop stopping in Pai, Mae hong son, Kun yuam, Mon jam, before heading over the summit of Doi inthanon to get back to Chiang Mai.
Given the amount of climbing we packed pretty light for the trip, i took one pair of bib shorts and two jerseys and a rain cape. Then a pair of running shorts, t shirt and flip flops for the evenings. Thats pretty much all that you need but i had a bunch of camera stuff and batteries which added a fair bit of weight.
I used my Niner RDO9 gravel bike with specialized roubaix pro 32mm tyres, the bike was super comfortable and the disk brakes were a huge relief given the amount of decending we were doing. The bike also has quite a few additional bolts for heavier bikepacking set ups which is cool but unecessary in our case.
