Bill Browder (Stanford GSB ’89) is the founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, the largest foreign investment fund in Russia until 2005, when Bill was denied entry to the country and declared a “threat to national security” as a result of his battle against corporate corruption. The subsequent seizure of Hermitage Fund's investment companies resulted in the theft of $230 million in taxes. Browder's lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, bravely investigated the crime but tragically died in custody.
Browder's relentless pursuit of justice led to the adoption of the 'Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act' in the US and his campaign continues to this date.
Hear Browder discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russia’s attempts to undermine democratic regimes abroad, and the impact of sanctions on Russia.
