Welcome back to the Bird Kittens, who are now three weeks old.

They’re exploring, but they’re nervous, so they’re meowing. Mum is nearby, like usual.

And of course, Mum likes a good box.

Turtle is interested to see what Mum is doing, but not actually interested in eating food yet. And they’re starting to fight. You can see the tail shivering with nerves.

That meow was either a greeting to me, or it was because when they woke up outside the bathroom, they got scared all over again.

That meow was, “Mu-um!”

Kookaburra is still quite nervy, but she’s getting braver—and more comfortable too.

The kittens are not just fighting each other; they’re fighting me.

And, believe it or not, they will often initiate fights with Kookaburra.

A lot of cats are scared of kittens, particularly when there’s a lot of them. The thing is, they move fast, they’re little, and they’re quite unpredictable.

When I give them their syringe feeds, I put some of the milk in a shallow dish like this. But so far, most of them are just not interested.

But they are interested in toys.

That’s a pain meow. And that. And that. Bluebird is not getting the hint. This is an important part of kitten development; they teach each other where the boundaries are.

That’s Goose having a drink. I’m trying to encourage Sparrow by deliberately putting her paws in the milk, but it’s not working so far.

Dove feeds them very well.

That’s Bluebird, Sparrow, Goose, and Turtle.
