Bisserov Sisters in TV program "Reiziger in Muziek". 12 minute excerpt with 2 songs, and an interview in between. 1. Sto Sne Na Vesoko (traditional); 2.Nikola Mori (traditional). Bisserov Sisters Lyubimka, Neda, and Mitra were born in Pirin Village, in south-west Bulgaria. The area is known for a particular style of female two-voiced singing, diaphony, that is totally different from other Bulgarian song styles. One singer leads the melody, the others sing a drone line. The songs that stand out most have a drone with an interval of just a second, causing the singing to sound shrill. The sisters learned this style of singing from their mother and her three sisters, known locally as the Popov Sisters in the 1940s and 1950s. Transmitted by VPRO Television, Netherlands, Sunday 25 Feb. 1991. "Reiziger in Muziek" was presented by Han Reiziger. In this special one-hour program the focus was on the human voice. The other guests in the program were alto singer Jard van Nes, David Hykes' Harmonic Choir, and Batwa Ekonda (from Zaire). Published on Youtube: 4 March 2025.
