Dale Wheatley Interview | Hugging The Cactus
Dale Wheatley was the writer and producer of Don's Plum starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. The film was a slice of 90's life, done as a black & white independent film. Leonardo DiCaprio made a deal with Dale and director R.D. Robb (A Christmas Story) to support the film, as long as it didn't embarrass him. DiCaprio ended up enjoying the film... it was his friend Toney Maguire, a nobody at the time, who was later worried about his performance... and according to Dale, made up lies to get DiCaprio to tank the film... ruining friendships and blacklisting Dale from Hollywood.
