Being in Spring you should begin to see a lot of trees with budding leaves and flowers in the northern hemisphere. One of the species is especially popular as a bonsai for it floral display is the Flowering Quince. Quince has along lasting flower, undergoes autumnal colour changes and makes a nice winter, bare branch display. Quince is a somewhat beginner friendly tree. It grows well. It is a easily trained with a little patience and awareness. With the floral and autumunal colours seen this creates an impressive bonsai display. Reducing quince to the size of a bonsai is simple. It does not require any special soil. It should be fertilised well with phosphorous and potassium to encourage flowers and fruits. Like many other fruiting bonsai you can get both full and scaled fruit. Quince can be a beginner friendly bonsai. It can also be a species trained in more unique and difficult ways. This makes quince a species that suits every skill level and most styles so you can do a lot with it.
